The museum at the Sandhof farm in Val Passiria/Passeiertal Valley, the birthplace of Andreas Hofer, explains in a lively and entertaining way how the bearded innkeeper and cattle drover became a Tyrolean folk hero. The permanent exhibition Heroes & US suggests a not so wide arc between Superman, Nelson Mandela and other contemporary heroes. The link that unites such different figures is timeless and therefore poses the question: why do we need heroes?
In the outdoor area stands a Haufenhof, a typical farm of the Passeiertal Valley.
The exhibition Miër Psairer offers an insight into the culture and dialect of the Passeiertal Valley.
The special exhibition “UFFIZI IN PASSEIER” (open from 15 Mar to 31 Oct 2019) tells the story of 293 artworks from Florence that, during the Second World War, by turns fell into the hands of the art protection teams on both sides, and thus into a web of intrigue that extended far beyond their hiding place in Passeier − and indeed South Tyrol.
From Merano / Meran to the Passeier Valley in direction of Passo Rombo / Passo Giovo until the Sandhof, before S. Leonardo / St. Leonhard.
