The Tappeinerweg trail is an approx. 6 km long promenade in the city of Merano. Long sections of the path offer wonderful views of the city of Merano. The Tappeinerweg has a wide variety of predominantly Mediterranean trees and shrubs.
From the village center (tourist information office) follow the main street (via Principale) downhill. Vicolo dei Castagni branches off from the main street (via Principale) by the mini golf course. Follow this road until it leads into via Gnaid. Continue right along via Gnaid to Thurner Schloessl (small castle). Head downhill for approx. 200 m on via Thurnstein. The famous Tappeinerweg trail begins here on the left. Follow this trail as far as Monte S. Zeno. From here it’s about another 150 metres uphill towards Tirolo as far as Monte S. Zeno fire station. From here follow Alter Tirolerweg as far as via Monte Benedetto, then continue along this road to the main street (via Principale) and along this back to your starting point.
