From Meran 2000 to the Ifinger peak - the tour offers an unique view over the Merano basin, the Texel Group, Ötztal, the Dolomites and much more.
At an elevation of 2,581 m, the Ifinger is Schenna/Scena local mountain. The peak offers a fantastic panorama. Plenty of mountain experience, sure-footedness, a good head for heights, and via ferrata equipment are required as the ascent to the peak includes a via ferrata.
Starting from the mountain station at Meran 2000, hiking trail no. 3 passes the Waidmannalm Mountain Hut and continues up to the little St. Oswald Church (2,200 m). Continue via the Oswald gap to the Kuhleitenhütte Mountain Hut at 2,363 m. Reach the little Ifinger peak (2,552 m) by following trail no. 19. Fantastic views can already be enjoyed at this point where the via ferrata to the Großer Ifinger peak begins. These rocky passages are only for sure-footed hikers with a good head for heights. Return by the same route.
Coming from both directions of the freeway Meran - Bozen (MEBO), take the exit of Meran Süd/Merano Sud and follow directions towards Merano first, to then turn right towards Hafling/Avelengo
